Website Maintenance Questions

Why do I need ongoing website maintenance?

Websites aren't a one-and-done project. Software needs security updates, content gets stale, plugins break after updates, and search engines reward sites that are regularly maintained. Without maintenance, websites become vulnerable to hacks, load slower over time, and can develop broken features that frustrate visitors. A maintenance plan means someone is watching your site so problems are caught before they affect your customers.

Can I update the website myself instead of paying for maintenance?

If you're comfortable logging in and making changes, you're welcome to. Many of our clients prefer to focus on running their business and leave the technical work to us. Our maintenance plans are for business owners who want the peace of mind of knowing their site is being professionally managed without them having to think about updates, backups, or security.

What happens if my website gets hacked?

If you're on a maintenance plan and your site is compromised, we work to identify the issue, clean the site, restore from a backup if needed, and patch the vulnerability. Premium plan clients get priority emergency support. Without a maintenance plan, you'd call us on an emergency basis at our hourly rate — which is almost always more expensive than the monthly plan would have been.

Do you maintain websites you didn't build?

Yes. We maintain websites built on WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, and custom platforms. We'll start with a site audit to understand what you have, check for existing issues, and recommend a maintenance plan that matches your site's needs. If the site was built poorly, we'll let you know honestly and recommend whether maintenance is enough or if a rebuild would be the smarter investment.

How quickly can you make content updates?

Standard plan clients get updates within 24 hours. Premium clients get updates within 4 business hours during business days. Basic plan updates are completed within 48 hours. If something is truly urgent — a wrong price, an expired promotion, incorrect business hours — we prioritize those regardless of plan tier because we understand that wrong information on your site can cost you business.

What's the difference between website maintenance and website hosting?

Hosting is the server space where your website files live — it keeps your site online. Maintenance is the ongoing work of keeping the site software updated, secure, backed up, and current. Think of hosting as renting the storefront and maintenance as keeping the lights on, the windows clean, and the door working. You need both, and they're usually separate services.
