Packaging Guide

How to Prepare Packaging Artwork

A clear checklist for getting your logo and files ready, so your packaging prints clean the first time.

The best packaging design in the world prints poorly if the artwork isn't prepared correctly. The good news: the essentials are simple, and YaSeen Creative handles the detailed prep for you. Here's what to have ready.

1. Start With a Vector Logo

Your logo should be a vector file — typically an AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF. Vector art scales to any size without losing sharpness, which is exactly what packing needs when the same logo appears on a tiny label and a large bag. A JPG or PNG logo can't cleanly scale up and will print blurry.

2. Know Your Brand Colors

Have your exact brand colors on hand — ideally as Pantone or CMYK values, not just a name like "blue." Getting the color right is one of the most common reasons a print proof gets sent back for revision, so nailing it up front saves time.

3. Provide Logo Variations

Packaging often needs the logo on light and dark backgrounds, in full color and a single-color version. Supplying these variations up front means the design doesn't stall while you hunt down files.

4. Include All Required Text

Anything that must appear — your business name, tagline, website, and any legally required product details — should be spelled out clearly. Don't assume the designer knows your exact wording.

5. Don't Worry About the Rest

Sizing artwork to the specific container, setting up bleed and safe margins, and choosing print specifications — that's the designer's job, and it's included with YaSeen Creative. Bring your logo and colors, and we'll do the careful part.
