Menu Design Questions
What information do you need from me to design a menu?
We'll need your full menu items with descriptions and prices, your logo and any brand guidelines you have, and photos of your food if you have them. If you don't have food photography, we can recommend photographers or use styled placeholder images that communicate the right feel. We'll also ask about your preferred format — single-page, bi-fold, tri-fold, or multi-page — and any special sections you want highlighted.
How do you design menus that increase sales?
Menu design psychology is real. We use layout techniques that draw the eye to high-margin items — strategic placement, boxes and callouts, negative space around featured dishes, and descriptive language that makes items sound irresistible. We avoid dollar signs (which remind customers they're spending money) and we don't list prices in a straight column (which makes it easy to scan for the cheapest option). Every layout decision is intentional.
Can you design a menu that's easy for me to update myself?
Yes. We can build your menu in Canva or a similar tool and share an editable template you can modify on your own — ideal if you change prices or items seasonally. Or we can design it in professional software and provide the source files if you have someone on your team who can make changes. Many clients prefer we handle updates on a small retainer so the menu always looks professionally maintained.
Do you design digital menu boards for TV screens?
Yes. We design menus in 16:9 widescreen format optimized for digital displays behind the counter or above the register. These can be static slides, rotating carousels, or simple animated transitions. We deliver files you can load onto a USB drive and plug directly into most commercial displays. Digital boards are especially useful for businesses that change offerings frequently — no reprinting costs.
How long does a menu design project take?
A single menu typically takes 1-2 weeks from kickoff to final print-ready files, depending on the complexity and how quickly you provide content and feedback. A full menu system — dine-in, takeout, digital board, drink menu, and seasonal templates — takes 3-4 weeks. Rush timelines are available, especially for restaurant openings with a hard launch date.
Can you design menus in multiple languages?
Yes. We regularly design bilingual and multilingual menus — English and Spanish, English and Somali, English and Arabic, and other language combinations. We work with translation services or can use translations you provide. Designing for multiple languages requires careful layout planning so both languages are easy to read without the menu feeling crowded.
